did i mention how much i love my job?

We started a unit on stop-motion animation today in class. While finding examples to show the kids, I came along this one. What other job would require me to find stuff like this on youtube?

i love my job.

i love graffiti.

It's the only thing I don't like about living in Saint George is the lack of true graffiti artists. Do we have gangs in Southern Utah? Of course. The Aryan Nation is right in our back yard (La Verkin). We only lack in gang-bangers with artistic talent. Our "artists" tag like prepubescent third graders. Simple letters and shapes is about the most they can accomplish. I have actually taught a few little bangers the difference between graffiti art and vandalism. Graffiti art is a talent, something to be proud of. Vandalism is embarrasing graffiti for no-talent crackheads. If your going to tag something, make it worth looking at. Either make it impressive or amusing in some way. Like this one:

the wonderful world of found.

Recently, I was introduced to "found" things. I have to admit my fascination with these remarkable treasures. It's even more addicting than youtube and more intriguing than postsecret. I can't help but wonder if they are missed or known if they exist. Better still, I have a secret hope that something of mine will show up on a found site someday. Every blue moon, I will have to share some favorites (like this photo - found October 2008 in a library book in Texas). I have always contemplated creating a journal of "Middle School Found Things" - consisting primarily of notes...either confiscated or found. They really are a good read - perhaps I will share some with you sometime.
