the dress.

When it comes to picking out dresses, my Angela deserves a wifetime achievement award. She's had had her gown picked out since she was ten...in fact she wore it when she was ten to win the Miss Tiny Mid-Atlantic Bride. She's been dieting to get down to that very girlish figure. Her lacy frills will cover her from chin to toe; she's going to look just like a grown up Nellie Oleson from Little House on the Prairie - HOT!

She'll be low bridin' in style with something old, new, borrowed and blue. Something old: the dress was handmade over two decades ago by one of her barren aunts. Something new: she bought a bandage to tie in some of her more womanly parts so she can better fit into her dress as well as look more appropriate for church. Something borrowed: my grandmother's silver pocket watch, Angela has anxiety attacks when she doesn't have a clock on her. And the something blue will actually come from me, I'll be there with the blue blood that runs through my veins... that and a beautiful boutonniere arranged with forget-me-nots to match my baby blue eyes. If she looks half as good as I will standing at that altar, she's going to be a stunning bride.

the date is set.

Guess what? We decided on a wedding date! November 26th, 2009, Thanksgiving Day! It's genius! All of our guests are sure to make it because everyone will have the day off, in fact most people will have a four-day weekend to commute. And, surprisingly, lots of wedding venues are available. Go figure. Plus Angela and I met in the autumn, so it makes sense that we come together under the golden foliage, exchange our vows and fall deeper in love.

tagged again?

Here are the rules: you need to type 7 things about yourself that you don’t think anyone knows and then choose 7 people to tag at the end.

Here we go......

1. I used to cry when I watched "Full House" as a kid. When Uncle Jesse moved away and left Michelle...it tore me apart.

2. I am painfully shy around small groups. Strangely, I can speak in front of tens and thousands of people, but small groups make me want to vomit.

3. I "borrowed" a car when I was in high school. Not even my parents know about this one. I returned it with a soccer ball sized dent in the right front fender from hitting a brick building. Nothing was ever said.

4. I was adopted. My parents still haven't given me sufficient proof otherwise. Until then, my real parents were either Tongan or Japanese.

5. I love the "Golden Girls". It was one of my favorite shows growing up. Every once and a while I will sneek an episode while working out. My wife thinks I am watching Die-Hard.

6. Sometimes I miss being morbidly obese. I enjoyed not caring what people thought about the way I looked. Now, I'm worse than a girl (no offense). I panic when I overeat and overeat when I panic. It's pretty obsessive. I think I might need counseling.

7. I hate people. Really. I have a problem. If I don't know you, I hate you first. That's why I can't ever be on a jury or clergy. I also hold grudges. If you made it passed the first phase of hate and cross me or my family, I will probably hate you again...but this time it lasts for several years. Right before my grandpa passed away, he warned me about holding grudges. He said it was one of his greatest flaws. He once went 35 years without talking to a guy in his ward and didn't even know why. He just knew he didn't like him. Again, I think I might need counseling.

I humbly tag the Mother Pfunder, Juli, Marolyn, Lorraine, Rye, Shea, and Cinthia

This picture is hilarious. I kind of look brat-packish. No, I'm not smoking. Rather, I am licking a crystal award.

I have a "10-staple" wife.

Needless to say...we had a very interesting morning. Next to the witness of childbirth, I don't think I've ever seen so much blood. As we left for the hospital, I glanced back into the bathroom and it looked like an episode from Law and Order. Creepy. Long story short, my "MS" balance issues must have rubbed off on her, but she is doing fine now (besides the hole in her head).

We carved pumpkins with Grandma and Grandpa the other night. Lauren did a great job with the wolf. I did the count and Dad did Animal. I think they turned out pretty dang good.

Let's Go Wildcats!

The time had finally arrived. My Wildcat Family went to the premiere of High School Musical 3 and the girls loved it...well...alright...so did I. The girls were lucky enough to have their Grandparents come and even a couple of friends. We went an hour early, played Uno, and were second in line. I am so proud of my dedicated girls.

Lauren, Chocolate, and the Jingle

I found this while I was looking for an old picture. I love that Lauren is dancing to a pre-toddler musical toy. Better still, she is enjoying a giant Hershey's Chocolate bar while dancing. I love her to death.

I Couldn't Help It...

Well..I should probably first, apologize to Karlos. I love you, man. But...when your younger brother sends us a picture this priceless, I feel the need to share it with the world. What a stud.

Do You Believe in the Easter Bunny?

Do you ever wonder what your parents do when everyone leaves and it's just them. Better yet, do you ever wonder what your Dad does when your Mom runs to the store. Well...I think this picture explains alot. I don't know what is better, the fact that he is in a bunny suit, or that he took a picture of himself in the mirror. I wonder what other costumes they are hiding?

Summer Lovin'

Marolyn and I went to our friends (Cinthia) birthday party this weekend. Marolyn even broke out of her shell as a gift for Cinthia. Granted, it wasn't a ginormous crowd...but I sure was proud of her. Lauren told us we probably shouldn't ever perform the song in public, but she's only 9 years old. What does she know. I guess if we made complete fools of ourselves, it was well worth the all-you-can eat shrimp and artichoke dip.

I should be a professional pet groomer.

I really don't see why we should have to pay more money for the dog to get his haircut than I pay for mine. Granted...my last haircut cost me $2 at the hair college, but fifty bucks...you've got to be kidding me. Sooo...I whipped out the clippers and VIOLA! - I transformed a West Highland Terrier into a Mexican-Jack Russell-Rat mix. I think he looks pretty sweet and it was free. My Aunt Kris would kill me if she saw him.

Seriously...my Sister-in-Law got this idea out of a Family Fun magazine. We had a great time with our family and left with some pretty wicked tie-die shirts in the end.

Help with Morgans Costume

So...we were talking about Halloween costumes with Morgan tonight and asked her what she wanted to be. She has it narrowed down to 3 choices; a fairy (tooth fairy or forest fairy), a pioneer (like the ones we see at walmart), or a robot. Let us know what you think.

Friday, September 12, 2008

Thanks.

Marolyn recently took me to the Dinner of Champions. At first, I told her I wasn't going to attend and she politely persisted. I am glad she did. I wasn't too sure what the award was for and thought I might get a few McDonalds coupons out of it. Soon thereafter, my brother informed me that it really was a big thing. It was quite the feeling. I don't know what felt better: massive family support, a standing ovation from a bunch of over-dressed old rich people, or all-you-can-eat coconut shrimp.
I can't lie. I wanted to vomit in the moments leading up to the "speech". Marolyn kept asking if I wanted to write things down and I repeatedly refused. If I have things written down, I read the words verbatim and sound like a robot. Not much fun in that. So...why not just "wing it". I had no clue what to say, but when the time came, I sparked mild strokes in the geriactric crowd. It makes me feel good that more than just 12-year-olds appreciate my sense of humor.

Most importantly, it was good to see my grandma laugh. I saw my mom and dad snickering, Marolyn shaking her head, and my sister-in-law was in tears. It was a very accomplishing night. When people stood and kept applauding, my own heart jumped and my sight returned in full for a few moments. I felt young and loved.

I just want to thank everyone who helped make the night so special; my beautiful wife (of course), my brother and his wife, my parents, Harry Kim, my grandmother, my good friends (Derek and Ryan), the "in-Laws", my Uncle Laman, Dan and Loraine, and a perfect stranger (who bought my suit...a special thank you).

SURVEY SAYS!

So, Marolyn and I were called as the "Activities Committee" for our ward. After the pain-staking process of 100 surveys and hours of heavy construction...we came up with something that may just be the coolest thing ever for a ward party. ETERNAL FAMILY FEUD.

Are You Smarter Than Pfunder?

I really got tired of the same "bubble-tests" everyone made me take when I was going to school. I hated the tests and I hated the crappy teachers for making me take them. After several years of teaching, I became that crappy teacher. Pretty sad, huh? Well...in order to make it up to my students (and myself), I created a visual/interactive assessment to replace the old bubble test that will (eventually) return 100% proficiency results, rather than the drill and test "bubble" method that returns much lower results. Viola! I am a freakin' genius. Marolyn said I should make one for each core subject and sell them. Hmmmm.....

i owed 'em one

Between fictional birthdays, make-believe transgendered uncles, and fake public displays of child abuse and starvation...I figured some sort of apology was in order. What better way to show remorse, but to donate labor on the same house I caused so much grief (fun). A verbal apology may come later in life, but only when it stops being so damn funny.

Post Camping Max

Lauren and I had fun bathing the dog when we got home from Pine Valley. She felt artistic.

We Can Camp!?

Well...we went on our annual "roughing it" camp excursion last weekend. The girls just loved it. We went with some friends of ours and let Lauren bring her dog. Morgan and Ade and I went fishing and we caught six fish! Morgan called it catch and "not quite" release. We tried to release them, but ended up murdering four of them. The little kid next to us didn't mind, though. Ade kept asking us why the fish were "pretending to be dead".

Aquatic Prison

just happy to be here.

Well...she had her ups and downs, but overall Lily was a good sport and was just happy to be with her sisters. Ummm....until her breakdown 100 miles from home. yikes.

Coolest Art Project Ever.

We "stumbled" upon the Childrens Art Museum in San Diego and were glad we did. The girls had a ton of fun! Between the pillowfight room and "paint a bug" we were all quite impressed. Ade started the custom paint job and dove in without a brush. It was no surprise that her sisters followed suit. My OCD had to take a break and let the girls just have fun. (I wonder if Bob will let me get a bug for my classroom?)

O-LA-LA

I would have to admit my jealousy. I hope and pray everyday that I have the confidence of some people. This woman simply amazed me. I couldn't take my eyes off her.

We Love the Ocean!

I would have to admit my surprise when we couldn't drag Lauren away from the water. All the girls had the time of their life and we stayed until the sun set.

What kind of cave is this!?

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Caveman Adventures

We all decided to visit the Carlsbad Caverns this afternoon. Cool. After we saw the 300,000+ bats fly out last night, we thought it would be fun to go in. Pretty impressive.

The truth is out there...

Well...I finally made it to Roswell. Better still, I have finally conviced Marolyn of either artificial intelligence or of a ha rdcoregovernment conspiracy. Either way, she agrees the weather ballon explanation is a load of shit. Of all the places we went (alien museum and research center, the "truth" center, "where it happened", etc.) the McDonalds was the most disturbing. Something about a clown in space just gave me the heebee-jeebees.

BATS!

The true side of my lovely wife...most people will be amazed by the sheer shock and horror of the personality.

One of my favorites...

i dun gratuaded

Well...the long hard road has finally ended. I am no longer the master of my own domain. Now, I am a master of educational technology integration design. Wow. What a mouthful. I feel special.
To celebrate the festive occasion - Marolyn and I drove to Boise and did the whole walk the line and shake the hand of some dude I've never met thing.

Graduation Highlights

The highlight of the whole weekend was defiling the bronze bronco statue in the middle of the Boise State campus. I had to look at that damn horse every day for the last 2 years of my life and I let him have it.
